Improvers/Refreshers

- Why bother?

- Options and costs - visitors/previous customers/knee and ankle saver speciality

Nb An hour's refresher session is already part of the 3 hours plus one hour introduction package (please refer to the introductory page on the left hand menu).

Improvers/Refreshers - why bother?

To really get the most out of your nordic walking poles, it's best to practise on your own for some time after your initial training, to get the hang of it, to get your confidence up and to really relax into the technique; and then come back to have a refreshers session to iron out any bad habits. I have found that once they relax, people tend to forget about the safe angle to hold the poles, and also forget to use the strap effectively, sacrificing power and push (and a degree of invigoration!).

A refresher's session should enable you to get the maximum power out of your poles for the same effort or a little more than if you just pootle along looking beautiful. It should also help you ensure that you continue to flow along smoothly, looking efficient, both up and down hill and across rough terrain, ditches and banks, instead of falling into bad habits and using your poles at the wrong angle, risking injury, and looking unsafe and inelegant.

Improvers/Refreshers - options and costs

1. For visitors:

To anyone who has perhaps learned in a different part of the country on different terrain, I offer a 2 1/2 hour long refresher session at a cost of £50 for an individual or £35 each for two people. Nordic walking poles can be provided if necessary.

Please note that for practical reasons of time, this is definitely not suitable for people who have taught themselves, and is only appropriate for people who have previously been to a professional instructor and have received more than just a taster of tuition..

2. Previous customers:

For two or more people who have previously been to me, and who perhaps feel they are now a bit rusty, a stand alone 2 hour improvers/refresher's session costs £25 each in the Dulverton area.

One to one tuition for a two hour-long improvers/refreshers session costs £40 in the Dulverton area

3. Knee and ankle saver speciality

Tailored to you - here we can concentrate on rough ground/ruts/ditches/banks with some reminders on downhill techniques.

This option is more of an "Angela's guide to crossing Exmoor in comfortable nordic style", as opposed to a refresher lesson in a more purist nordic walking technique (where I would concentrate on helping you to power along as you walk and cover some rough ground work but not as much as with this option). Depending on what you want, we can go out for 1- 1 1/2 hours, or more. As a guide the cost would be in line with the above 2 options, with a minimum of £25.

Please call me on 01398 341281 or email me with a day and time to call you back.
