GIFT NORDIC WALKING THIS CHRISTMAS

Welcome to Nordic Walking Devon

If you're looking for an enjoyable way to improve your health and fitness Nordic Walking is a great place to start. Devon's beautiful coast and countryside, with miles of suitable paths, makes a stunning location for outdoor exercise. As an increasingly popular activity, with specific trails now at Haldon Forest Park, Nordic walking is easy to learn, suitable for all levels of fitness, and poles are available to use in all of the classes. Plus if you're looking for an unusual Christmas gift, a Nordic Walking Devon Gift Voucher for either private tuition or the British Nordic Walking 10 Steps course may be just what you're looking for.

Why is Nordic Walking effective? By using poles for propulsion you engage all of the major muscles, including the upper body and core. This improves both upper body strength & cardiovascular fitness.  The correct placement of the pole, combined with the rhythmic nature of Nordic walking, also helps to improve the range of movement around joints, posture, and balance. Nordic walking is recommended by Public Health England as a way to meet the recommended guidelines for health.

Discover Nordic walking by signing up for a free taster class at either Haldon Forest Park or National Trust Killerton. If you like it go on to learn the full technique by attending the British Nordic Walking INWA 10 Steps course.

Weekly Coast and Countryside Walks and Nordic Fitness Walks are held Haldon Forest Park throughout the year.

Hope you can join us soon.

Kind regards

Fiona

What is Nordic Walking?

Originating from Finland in the 1930's Nordic walking is a fitness activity which engages the upper body as well as the legs when walking. By using poles to propel yourself along you can walk much faster and feel lighter.

If done correctly it's a full body workout, burning 20 -40% more calories than ordinary walking making it a great activity for overall fitness and weight loss!

Nordic walking is recommended by many health professionals, including GP's and physiotherapists as it's suitable for most levels of fitness and is very effective.

It's easy to learn and can be done by anyone, anywhere and does not require expensive equipment or clothing.
